Patteson Drive Rite-Aid set to close; prescriptions will transfer to Walgreens

MORGANTOWN — The Rite-Aid at 381 Patteson Drive — purchased by Walgreens a year ago — will close in mid-June, a company spokesperson said Monday.
Prescription records from the Patteson Drive location will be transferred to the Walgreens at 897 Chestnut Ridge Road, on June 5, when the Rite-Aid pharmacy is scheduled to close. The store will remain open for two weeks after the pharmacy closes to allow for final sale of all products.
Pharmacy customers will be notified by Walgreens of the change. On its website, Walgreens said it accepts most major insurance plans and networks.
“As announced during our October 2017 earnings, we are in the process of closing some store locations to help ensure we have the right stores in the right locations to create a more focused network of stores that can deliver the greatest value for our customers,” the spokesperson said.
The former Rite-Aid at 405 Fairmont Road, Westover, was converted to a Walgreens.
In February 2018, Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens purchased 103 Rite-Aid stores in West Virginia, part of the nearly 2,000 stores it bought nationwide — a deal valued at $4.4 billion.
The spokesperson said there will be attempts to place as many of the Patteson Drive Rite-Aid employees as possible.
“We are committed to taking care of our team members throughout this process and expect to have positions at other locations for the majority of store employees who are impacted. We will be making every effort to find the same or similar positions for team members,” the spokesperson said in an email.
Besides Chestnut Ridge Road, Walgreens has stores on Earl Core Road and on Victory Avenue in Grafton.
