MACglee choral group present spring concert at First Presbyterian

MORGANTOWN — The MACglee community choral group will present its annual spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 456 Spruce St.
The MACglee choral group is sponsored yearly by Monongalia Arts Center. The theme for the concert will be “Why We Sing,” based on a choral arrangement with words and music by Greg Gilpin.
Parking is available at various lots near the church.
The choir consists of singers from Morgantown, Kingwood, Grafton and Fairmont. MACglee started rehearsals Feb. 1 and has had rehearsals every Wednesday evening at MAC’s Tanner Theater.
The MACglee choral group is under the direction of Ken Godwin. He returned to Morgantown several years ago after spending several years teaching and directing music in Florida. He is the music director at the First Presbyterian Church.
He has worked with Morgantown Theater Co. since his return to West Virginia.
Accompanist for the singers will be Josh Davis, bass guitar; Matt Schoomaker, percussion; and Christina Baran, piano.
For the past several years, musicians have provided accompaniment work for MACglee singers. Also, featured during the concert will be Joel Cotter, trumpet soloist for the number “Blow Gabriel, Blow.”
Davis and Baran are from the Morgantown area. Schoomaker is from the Clarksburg area.
A group of local guest artists will make an appearance during the concert.
