Flurries possible today but expected to melt by Christmas morning

MORGANTOWN — Are you still dreaming of a white Christmas?
Well, then, you may have to settle for flurries this morning.
That was the word Sunday afternoon from AccuWeather’s Brett Anderson.
Anderson, a senior meteorologist with the forecaster, said while overnight snow flurries could be enough to coat yards on the day before Christmas —  that was probably going to be about it for this year’s Yule.
“And what’s there will be melted off by Christmas morning,” he said.
Unless you live high in the hills of Preston County, he said.
“There’s a chance of 1-2 inches of snow and a white Christmas for the folks living in the higher elevations,” he said.
“We’re talking 2,500 feet up.”
AccuWeather in the meantime was tracking an Alberta Clipper storm expected to bring around 4 inches of snow across the upper Great Lakes tonight.
Locally, look for a high of 38 and a low of 25 for Santa’s Christmas Eve visit, AccuWeather said.
Christmas Day is expected to usher in cloudy skies and a high near 40.
