Granville council donates to Senior Monongalians

MORGANTOWN — In a unanimous vote, Granville town council donated $1,000 to Senior Monongalians.
Senior Monongalians is a nonprofit senior services center for Monongalia County residents 60 and older whose mission is to enhance and stabilize the quality of senior life. The senior center offers nutritional programs, in home healthcare assistance, social services, fitness activities, educational opportunities, and space for socialization.
“This is another agency that their funding is being cut and they’re looking for other sources of funding in town,” said Granville town mayor, Patricia Lewis.
Monongalia County Commission President Tom Bloom said the county has not cut its funding to Senior Mons. In fact, the commission approved the usual $120,000 and offered more money if needed for certain projects.
Lewis said that when the Senior Monongalians refer to the cost for one year service per person she assumes that it’s for all the activities and meals they provide.
