Black Bears rally to defeat Doubledays, 7-6

GRANVILLE — Daniel Amaral scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, leading the West Virginia Black Bears to a 7-6 win over the Auburn Doubledays on July 7.
Logan Stoelke struck out Jamori Blash with a runner on first to end the game for his third save of the season.
Amaral’s play came in the midst of a three-run inning and tied the game 6-6. Later in the inning, West Virginia took the lead when Luke Mangieri scored on an error.
Blash scored on a ground out in the second inning to give the Doubledays a 1-0 lead. The Black Bears came back to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning, when Travis Swaggerty hit a two-run home run.
Auburn regained the lead, 6-3, by scoring five runs in the sixth inning, including a wild pitch that scored Phil Caulfield.
West Virginia cut the deficit to 6-4 in the sixth, when Mangieri hit an RBI single, scoring Robbie Glendinning.
Miguel Hernandez (1-0) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless, three-hit relief while Jhonatan German (1-1) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game.
For the Doubledays, Israel Pineda doubled and singled twice, scoring a run and also driving one home.
Blash doubled twice, scoring two runs.
