WVU roundup: Baseball game with Marshall canceled

MORGANTOWN — With bad weather expected in Morgantown on May 16, WVU canceled its baseball game against Marshall.
Fans with tickets to the game may exchange them for tickets to a game against Baylor this weekend (Thursday,-Saturday) at the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the WVU Coliseum or on game day at the Monongalia County Ballpark ticket windows.
Baylor is WVU’s final regular-season series of the year. First pitch Thursday and Friday is set for 6:30 p.m., while Saturday’s Senior Day contest will commence at 1 p.m. Tickets are available for all three games at WVUgame.com, by calling 1-800-988-4263, at the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the WVU Coliseum or on game day at Monongalia County Ballpark. Admission for WVU students is free with a valid student I.D.
Friday night is the final Friday Night Happy Hour of the year, with half-off beverages from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Saturday is Family Day, Senior Day and the final trading card giveaway and postgame autograph session of the year. Fans can get four tickets and a $10 concession voucher for $25.
The home finale also is National Armed Forces Day, with $3 tickets for members of the military with a military ID.
Four Mountaineers were named to the academic all-Big 12 baseball team.
Junior right fielder Darius Hill (management) was named to the first team, while senior right-handed pitcher Shane Ennis (athletic coaching education), sophomore catcher Chase Illig (sport management) and sophomore right-hander Kade Strowd (general business) were second-teamers.
RIFLE
Junior Ginny Thrasher earned a spot in two finals at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Fort Benning (Ga.) World Cup for Rifle/Pistol, which concluded Monday.
Representing the U.S., Thrasher finished fifth in the women’s 10-meter air rifle and fourth in the
10-meter air rifle mixed team, with Dempster Christenson.
Sophomore Milica Babic, from Serbia, finished 12th in the women’s 10-meter air rifle.
Representing the U.S., senior Elizabeth Gratz was 34th in the women’s 10-meter air rifle.
Redshirt-freshman David Koenders earned a pair of 43rd-place finishes for Germany, in the men’s 50-meter rifle 3 positions and in the men’s 10-meter air rifle.
